Frequently Asked Questions

Do you recommend any flight schools at PDK airport?

There are many flight schools at PDK, and many reasons why some may be a better fit for you than others. We highly recommend doing your research, asking lots of questions, and taking a discovery flight before committing to a school!

You’re also welcome to ask around for opinions at meet-ups/in our community group chat!

What are some good study resources for a student pilot?

Do I have to be a pilot at PDK to be a part of the club?

The PDK Lady Pilots began in 2020 as a social group for ladies in flight training at the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport, but has since grown to include members from flight schools and airports all over the Atlanta area.

We’ve had many members move away for job opportunities as they’ve advanced through their careers, but they will always be a PDK Lady Pilot.

Anyone is welcome to join us at our monthly gatherings, regardless of gender identity or flying experience, so long as you’re willing to make the drive (or flight). We do ask that anyone under the age of 18 has an adult join them.

How do I know if I qualify for scholarships?

The PDK Lady Pilots offers scholarships to those who identify as female who are currently training at the PDK Airport.

Some scholarships have additional requirements, so be sure to read all guidelines carefully!

How do I get involved?

Join us at our in-person gatherings, hosted the second Wednesday of each month at 57th Fighter Group (PDK).

What makes you different from other aviation organizations?

The PDK Lady Pilots set out to create a space that was tailored specifically towards female pilots training in the Atlanta area, with social gatherings held close to PDK to make it convenient for members who were already spending most of their free-time at the airport!

Most of our members are also active participants of other non-pilot-specific aviation organizations, such as Women in Aviation, as well.
